Es gibt mich noch

Leider vergingen nun fünf Wochen ohne Blogeintrag und ich werde es heute wohl auch nicht mehr schaffen, einen englischen Eintrag zu schreiben. L

Der Hauptgrund für meine Faulheit ist meine Schwangerschaft und das heiße Wetter in Namibia; noch gut drei Wochen bis das Baby kommt und ich sitze hier –um 22:15- und schwitze…

Dieses letzte Drittel meiner Schwangerschaft macht mich wirklich k.o. und ich fühle mich oft einfach nur müde… So ist natürlich einiges liegen geblieben und ich habe es auch nicht so häufig wie geplant nach Nyae Nyae geschafft.

Hui-a khoe läuft aber weiter und ich bin damit beschäftigt alles aufzuarbeiten.

It’s been more than 5weeks since I’ve been blogging the last time. The reason for that is my pregnancy and the weather in Namibia. The birth will be in around 3 weeks and I am sitting here at 22.15 pm. sweating..

I have been really exhausted during the last 3 month of my pregnancy, but Hui-a khoe is still working as usual, even though I didn’t make it to Nyae Nyae as often as I wanted to.

Die Ohrringe, die oben auf dem Photo zu sehen sind, sind schon auf dem Weg nach Deutschland. Eine ganze Menge weißer Ohrringe landet Ende der Woche, die braunen folgen Ende nächster Woche.

Wir sind dabei, das ganze Webseiten-Bestellsystem dahin gehend zu verändern, daß nur noch bereits in Deutschland vorhandene Produkte bestellt werden können – die dann auch sofort versendet werden können und in dem Zuge können dann auch die Ohrringe schon bald bestellt werden.

Diese Umstellung ist nötig, da die San / Buschmannfrauen nicht auf Bestellung arbeiten können. So entstehen ewig lange Lieferzeiten und viel Unzufriedenheit auf allen Seiten und ich kann und möchte so nicht weiterarbeiten.

Letztendlich machen ich und die Vorsitzende von Hui-a khoe Deutschland alles ehrenamtlich und ich denke, daß ein Ehrenamt mehr als nur eine riesige Belastung sein sollte.

The earrings you see on the picture above are already on their way to Germany. A lot of the white ones will arrive in Germany this week. The brown earrings will follow next week. We are changing the order-system on the webpage so that you only can order articles that are in stock. That means that we will be able to send your orders much faster from now on. I will publish the earrings on the webpage as soon as they have arrived in Germany. That means that you will be able to order them soon. This change of the order-system is necessary because the Ju/’hoansi women struggle with producing all individual-ordered jewellery. Due to that we have had some delivery problems. I think we can avoid these problems with the solution we have agreed on now. Since I and the Hui-a khoe Foundation in Germany work on a voluntary base we all want to find good and easy solutions, both for you and for us.

Auch die Frauen hier bei uns auf der Farm wollen aktiv werden und haben angefangen, Taschen zu nähen. Die dafür verwendeten Stoffe kommen ausschließlich aus Südafrika und es handelt sich dabei größtenteils um Shwe-shwe Stoffe. Das sind hochwertige Baumwollstoffe, die in einem speziellen Verfahren mit einer milden Säure ein Muster „eingebleicht“ bekommen. Die Taschen sind ziemlich groß (ohne Henkel etwa 40 x 45 cm), gefüttert und haben eine Innentasche mit Reißverschluß.

Jede Tasche ist aus zwei verschiedenen blauen Stoffen und es gibt sie mit einem Perlenherz, mit einem gestickten Käfer oder „plain“ (also ohne Herz bzw. Käfer).

The women living here in the area of our farm also want to start producing art and craft from Namibia. They have made these beautiful bags. The fabric is from South-Africa and they have mainly used Shwe-shwe fabric, which is of high quality. The bags are relatively big (40x45 cm) and have one wallet with a zipper inside. Each bag is made of 2 different blue fabrics and you can get them with a heart, a bug or plain.

Auf Bestellung können auch Kinderkleidchen genäht werden; unsere Tochter Justina trägt hier eines aus braunem Shwe-shwe Stoff, ebenfalls mit Käfer.

Gestern hat Hendrina aus Olukonda im Ovamboland (das ist im Norden Namibias zwischen der Etoshapfanne und Angola) meine bestellten Körbchen und Ohrringe losgeschickt.

Wenn ich Glück habe, kommen sie morgen in Windhoek an und mein Mann kann sie mit nach Hause auf die Farm nehmen.

Hendrina und viele andere Frauen sind Teil der Ohandje Artists Cooperative und flechten in traditioneller Technik Schüsseln, Körbe und neuerdings auch Ohrringe – alles aus Palmblättern. Gefärbt wird ausschließlich mit Pflanzen, so kriegen sie selbst dieses knallige Pink hin!

Hendrina from Olukonda, Ovamboland (located in North Namibia between the Etosha Pan and Angola) has sent the baskets and earrings I ordered earlier. I am really excited to see the products! Hendrina and several other women are part of the Ohandje Artists Cooperative and produce bowls and earrings made of palm leaves. They use a traditional technique and colour only with plants. Even the pink is coloured in that way!
